Vadakkunnathan Temple (Vadakkumnathan) is the principal Shiva shrine of Thrissur, set on Thekkinkadu Maidan in the city centre.
Tradition links it with Parasurama.
The Kerala-style complex holds murals of Mahabharata episodes and is the spiritual focus of Thrissur Pooram. The name Thrissur itself comes from this sacred Shiva seat.
