The Sabarimala pilgrimage draws millions of devotees to the shrine of Lord Ayyappa in Pathanamthitta’s forested hills. The main season spans Mandala–Makaravilakku (roughly mid-November to mid-January), with austerity (vratham), group travel, and Ayyappa songs along the route. It is one of Kerala’s most significant spiritual journeys.
